The Art of Cool

I wish I could write an introduction that gave in-depth background information on the Jazz genre, or music, or this Durham-based festival, but I’m sure there’s a Wikipedia page for it so I will spare you. What I have to share is an experience and I will use this to extract something more than knowledge: emotion. And what I do know about jazz is that it combines a mellow tempo with more silence and space than other songs, giving the track and listener more breathing room; it can range from melancholic to frenzied to intoxicating and sensual. The Art of Cool festival aimed to bring various artists (not all were jazz) to Durham, NC for a fantastic weekend with dope tunes and dapper locals.
