Power of a Portrait

What is the portrait? It’s an subject in their natural state yet they are simultaneously aware that they are in the sights of a camera. Each portrait belongs to a person, real people with real dreams and desires, just like you. To those people, and their dreams, I say thank you, for allowing it to be my camera that captured you, no matter how brief the golden moment.

Summer ’16 I embarked on a small photographic journey with one goal in mind: to discover the commonalities of North Carolinians. The project was simple: a portrait photograph was taken of a subject, and they were asked a question. The twist? Each question came from the previous individual in front of the camera. A special thank you to each participant of this social experiment.
